The Battle Belongs to the Lord
Sweat and blood running down my face,
Feeling ready to give up the race.
Tired of being teary,
Frankly getting weary,
I wanna quit!
But the battle belongs to the Lord.
Gotta get back to focusing on His word.
God will fight for me.
He sets the captives free,
He always wins!
I don’t have to do this all alone.
This war is His and not my own.
I know that my story,
Is all about His glory.
I’m in his hand.
He knows the end.
This poem was inspired by my Bible reading recently. I’ve been reading in both the books of Joshua and Psalms. A common theme in both of these books is that God wins battles for his people. Time and time again in Joshua, God came through for the Israelites and won battles for them when the odds were impossibly stacked against them. And many of the Psalms are crying out for God to come to the psalmist’s rescue but also acknowledging that God will hear and answer their prayer because he is a God that cares for the weak.
The idea of “the battle belonging to the Lord” is a central theme all throughout scripture. There are many battles in life too big for us too face. But when the odds are impossibly stacked against us, we can turn to an almighty God that promises to fight for the weak. How amazing! The God of the universe that holds all of creation in His hand loves you and will fight for you! You are held in God’s hand. He already knows the end of your story and he is going to use it for his greater glory. The battle belongs to the Lord... be at peace.
